Mike Clemens Obituary: Tribute to a Life Well Lived

Affectionately known as “Felt Madhatter,” Mike Clemens passed away in his sleep unexpectedly Friday June 12th 2023 at age 49. His final hours in the peaceful countryside represented a complete contentment of life and tranquillity of mind. But it had been an arduous journey that began on April 27, 1974 in Beverly, Ohio. Mike’s was probably many things–an expedition full of passion, creativity and childlike earnestness.

In Memoriam: Saw Billy Tom

Mike devoted his life to the common people, using his career as a success consultant to help confused or struggling teachers better reach their students. He worked as a Behavioral Technician for Ohio Valley Educational Service Center for more than ten years, and his dedication was obvious in all things he did. He earned the right to be called ‘The Great Artist of All’, a title he would never relinquish for whatever reason–though there were several who tried! And, thanks to Sara Beck, his dream of becoming famous really did come true. She featured his illustrations on the cover of her book “Slippin.”

A Unified Family Through Love

Becky (Heidler) Clemens, Mike’s beloved partner of 19 years, wife, and the mother of their children, is left to carry on his legacy. Since 1993 their joint existence has been a symbolism of constant love together. Throughout this time he was the best daddy any daughter could ask for helping them grow into their own unique form and ideas respecting each other. He gave Caylee expert instruction in beauty things as though she were a boy instead; meanwhile with Lexy it was “nerd games”.

Heritage of Grandchildren

More than anything else, it was “the boy” Rowan. He returned that affection one hundredfold over, forging a deep bond with his grandfather.Mike’s memory lives on in their mutual love and regard for each other. As for Rowan’s future? Mike Clemens will always guide him from somewhere high winds blowdown stream: such was the strength of their rapport.

A Circle Of Love And Friendship

Mike’s life was enriched by his sisters Missy (Shain) Girton and Sonya (Kevin) Watson, his best friend Richard Steele, and a close-circle of family and friends which he treasured. Preceding him in death are brother Tony Tamburello and pal Scott Miller; Tony and Scott now welcome him home on the other side.

A Last Farewell
